Update for Saturday, May 16, 2021

After sending the weekly update on Friday, May 14, Stonehill was made aware that an additional employee tested positive for COVID-19. At this time, beginning Saturday, May 15 resident visits will be suspended until surveillance testing can be completed. The testing will likely be completed on Tuesday, at which time if there are no additional cases we will resume visits.

End-of-life and compassionate care visits may continue, please contact social work staff if you have questions.

The positive employee did receive the COVID-19 vaccine and is currently off work following public health protocols. While we know there can still be breakthrough infections, receiving the COVID-19 vaccine is an important step to prevent one from getting severely ill with the disease. While a person who is vaccinated may still test positive for COVID-19, the vaccine has proven effective at preventing severe illness and hospitalization. An individual may often have little or no symptoms. Therefore, we continue to educate and encourage all to receive the vaccine. From a public health standpoint, the ultimate goal is to diminish the dynamics of an outbreak and we are seeing this to be true.

As we previously indicated Stonehill Communities Health Center is currently listed in "outbreak status" per CMS. CMS defines outbreak status as one or more positive cases of COVID-19 in a staff member or resident. Outbreak status continues for 14 days past the last identified case.

Please see below for full COVID-19 testing numbers.

We encourage everyone to consider getting vaccinated unless there is a health or religious reason that indicates otherwise.

Please contact social work staff if you have any questions about visits. Once visits resume, you may visit this link to view protocol for scheduling visits. https://www.stonehilldbq.com/visitor-information/

Thank you for your understanding as we continue to follow CMS guidelines and work together to keep residents and staff safe.

If you have any questions regarding visitation or our ongoing precautionary measures you may contact Peggy Stockel, V.P. of Operations or Matt Jahn, Director of Health Services at 563-557-7180. We thank you for your continued help as navigate the ever-changing COVID-19 pandemic.

Thank you,

Peggy Stockel
