Planned Giving

The Stonehill Benevolent Foundation (SBF) provides financial assistance for needy residents of Stonehill Care Center, assists Stonehill Care Center in its general operations, generates and attracts substantial support from the public to receive contributions and grants, and holds, administers, converts, invests, reinvests and manages such contributions and grants for the benefit of Stonehill Care Center in various ways.

The Stonehill Benevolent Foundation supports Stonehill Care Center in its mission and efforts to provide care and related services for the elderly and their families. Programming is administered by the Sisters of St. Francis of Dubuque, who together with their committed staff and volunteers, lovingly offers Service, Care and Concern.

Over the years many have contributed to the success of Stonehill Franciscan Services, especially the partnerships with our church sponsors and the community at large. Stonehill Care Center is most grateful for their financial gifts which benefit our residents directly.

This support is critical to the continued success of Stonehill Franciscan Services. Gifts enable special services, facility improvements and many quality of life programs and encourage the mission at Stonehill Franciscan Services.

Several bequests, charitable gift annuity contracts, and charitable trusts have benefited both Stonehill Franciscan Services and donors over the years. The Foundation has provided significant operational funding for Stonehill Care Center historically. We are blessed to have this community support, due in great measure to the quality of care delivered by our staff.

Examples of gifts over the years include the following:

• Memorials: Many of our friends find that memorials are a meaningful way to honor a loved one or friend and are a lasting tribute to a person they wish to honor.
• Gifts: Financial gifts or personal property are a means to give and offer tax benefits such as deductions for the value of the gift(s). No capital gains tax due on appreciated property is also a benefit.
• Bequest in Will: A thoughtful way to memorialize a person is to name our charitable organization in your will. There is an estate tax deduction for the value of your bequest to the charitable organization and it may give you flexibility in your personal life.
• Life Insurance Gift: A gift of an insurance policy may provide tax deductions for the value of the gift plus possible estate tax savings.
• Retirement Plan Gift: You can provide a gift to our charitable organization as a remainder beneficiary after your death. Benefits may include avoiding income tax on the plan, and possible estate taxes. It allows you to preserve the plan’s value and leave heirs less costly bequests.
• Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust: A trust that pays a set income to you or those you name before a charitable organization receives the remainder. Benefits include income tax savings from the deduction, no capital gains tax liability, and possible estate tax savings.

Other gifts can be given such as a Charitable Remainder Unitrust, a Charitable Gift Annuity, and/or a Charitable Lead Trust. Contact your personal financial planner for planning assistance.
