I can't praise Stonehill Franciscan Services enough: professional, very friendly staff with a sincere concern about me; good and varied meals; patient dignity and strong encouragement were top goals consistently met; very clean yet no "hospital smells". I was lucky to be the first person in my private large room with lots of windows and a flat screen TV - whoo hoo! The unit just opened this past April; the entire building is run by Franciscan nuns and includes various levels of care. This was the exact opposite of my first experience with a care facility (post stroke) which my husband refers to as "a house of horrors."
Not knowing how good Stonehill was, I cried all the way there and prayed God send me angels - and I certainly had lots of them. Presently I have a million exercises to do and will be going to outpatient therapy for a while. My worst pain is my sciatica and physical therapy gave a tens unit which really reduces by pain.
